It’s been hot this week and we’ve been singing our praises for swimming pools.
The Administratorhas finally been able to come home at a decent hour from work this week and so we have gotten in some great PML-Dad time.
Landon was making this face all morning one day and I couldn’t figure out why he was being so dramatic (aside from the fact that he is my offspring). Then I realized he was mimicking the monkey in the top middle of his plate. Nice.
In other sleepless night news: Homeboy has been teething this week (or something) and waking up at 4:00am rearing to go for the day. FML. On Wednesday, he woke up at 12:30 and stayed awake until 3:00am (regardless of how many times I put him back in his bed). Somewhere in the middle of my brain fog I remember setting him down by his crib and he yelled and pointed as if he were leading a band of men off to war, ” Vaminos Mama! Apple Juice!!!” After a sprint down the long hallway to the kitchen and right before storming the refrigerator he yelled at the top of his lungs, “Arrrriba!”
ps I’m not one of those non-Spanish speaking parents that speaks Spanglish to my kids. This is all due to influence of “Nickelodeon pre-school.” For better or for worse.
Workout Summary:
I had a pretty good workout week, despite feeling a little bit like a zombie. Classes really are where it’s at for me. I love being in a studio and I like super loud music (apparently).
Monday: Zumba (1 hr)
Tuesday: None
Wednesday: Zumba + swimming with Landon
Thursday: Yoga
Friday: Treadmill
I *almost* threw in the towel today because I couldn’t get out the door in time for the class I wanted to attend and it’s too hot to run outside right now. I read a great quote from Averie, another healthy living blogger, that said, “If I’m hating this in five minutes, than I can quit.” So I pulled up my big-girl pants and hopped on my least favorite exercise apparatus and got to work. It was a pretty sweet workout and of course, you never regret a workout. Thank for the inspiration, Averie.
Distance Speed Incline
0.0-.5 miles 2.5-6.0 1.5
0.5-0.7 7 1.5
0.7-0.9 4 1.5
0.9-1.1 8 1.5
1.1-1.3 4.3 0
1.3-1.5 9 0
1.5-1.7 4.3 0
1.7-1.9 9.5 0
1.9-2.1 4.3 0
2.1-2.3 10 0
2.3-2.5 4 0
2.5-2.7 9.5 0
2.7-2.9 4 0
2.9-3.1 9 0
3.1-3.3 cool down 0
Basically after the first 0.5 mile I adjusted the speed every .2 miles. Instead of changing my intervals for time, I did distance.
Total time: 37:34 (with leisurely warm-up and cool down time) I was dripping in sweat and felt like I had done something great for myself. It also made the boring monotony of the treadmill kind of fun. I can’t believe I am actually saying that.
Happy Labor Day Weekend!
Something to do: Eat something delicious and challenge yourself physically once this weekend. And MOST IMPORTANTLY–remember our troops

Is the cookbook vegan or just vegetarian? Either way it sounds good. Maybe I'll ask for it for my birthday!
She's a vegan, and most of the dishes are vegan but can easily be made vegetarian. You'd love it Molly!
You make my heart happy.
"FML" Just what I wanted to say today. Thanks for saying it and keeping it real!
I love your documentation of the little things you do to be healthy. Very inspiring.
Today: 80 lunges around the playground/walk/jog intervals. Its a start.
Thank you.
Ah Holly! I've missed you! Thanks–and 80 lunges is LEGIT! Way to go
Your tofu turned out great. It took me about 10 years and 100 failed attempts before I finally figured out cooking tofu at home. ha!~
And thanks for the mention/link to my little if I’m hating it in 5 minutes quote
Of course! It was excellent motivation for me. I still think of that often whenever I am debating a workout.
